Botulax 200IU, specific substance mainly used for cosmetic purposes. It is a type A botulinum toxin which, if injected for aesthetic purposes, has the function of blocking the nervous activity of the tissues at least temporarily. There are many names, such as Botox, and this substance is injected by the aesthetic doctor strictly with injections under the skin in order to have smooth skin and a young face, at least temporarily.

Botox is not just an anti-wrinkle treatment with a lifting effect, an aesthetic therapy that is carried out with regular punctures. Botox is also a valid medical therapy when used as a therapy for benign essential blepharospasm in adult patients, for clubfoot deformity and to treat spasticity in pediatric patients with cerebral palsy, from 2 years of age onwards. Botox is used in adults with cervical dystonia, which is when you have severe spasms in the neck muscles or, in other cases, muscle stiffness in the elbows, wrists, fingers, ankles or feet.

Why do so many people prefer botox to other aesthetic and therapeutic treatments, even definitive ones? Due to the fact that botulinum injections, especially if you are using Botulax, do not carry the risks that can arise during surgery with anesthesia. The main substance is called OnabotulinotoxinA and is made up of bacteria that cause a disease called botulism. It is a serious intoxication caused by the toxins of Clostridium botulinum and can manifest itself in various forms, the most common being that through the ingestion of contaminated food but it can also occur due to an overdose of Botox during a localized aesthetic or medical intervention (in this case is called iatrogenic botulism). The first symptoms are those characteristic of gastroenteritis and then lead to worsening with the addition of respiratory paralysis and asphyxia. For this reason it is advisable to always listen to the opinion of a doctor and above all to undergo treatments and therapies under the supervision of experts, as well as promptly notify the emergency services if you feel unwell after a course of botox injections.

The dosages are different depending on the type of intervention to be performed, it will be the doctor to evaluate for each patient the appropriate therapy in order to make the disorder harmless at least temporarily. For blepharospasm the recommended starting dose is between 1.25 and 2.5 IU injected into the medial and lateral pre-tarsal orbicular orbicularis of the upper eyelid and the pre lateral tarsal orbicularis of the eye of the lower eyelid. In the case of pediatric cerebral palsy, it is recommended to calculate 4U / kg body weight for the affected gastrocnemius muscle in patients with hemiplegia. For those suffering from diplegia, a dose of 6U / kg of body weight divided by both legs is recommended.

In the case of purely aesthetic interventions, the maximum dose to be administered to the patient cannot be above 2000 IU and it is also essential that the product is well diluted with sterile saline before using it on a patient. In addition to making the toxin harmless, dilution could be the tip of the balance for the success of the treatment since each patient reacts in his own way. The first effects of Botulax 200IU last up to six months, and the first results are visible depending on the type of therapy chosen, from a couple of days after the injection up to two weeks, bearing in mind that the final results are visible with certainty after. a month.

Being a full-fledged medicine, Botulax 200 IU could cause side effects that can occur soon after the first injection as well as after weeks or months of treatment. Why does this happen? Simply because botulinum toxin is a foreign body and a healthy organism is able to organize an immune response that could neutralize the toxin (for this reason, patients sometimes do not get the desired results). However, the doctor may decide to inoculate a low dosage to accustom the body to the presence of the toxin so as to increase the dosage in subsequent treatments.

The main side effects that may occur may be muscle weakness, dizziness, itching and localized swelling: it is good to ask your doctor for advice who will evaluate the general clinical condition.
